Hey there! :ack2:

Surprised you clicked to view this thread! Perhaps, you're short like me...

It's got it's ups and downs I suppose. I love being short because, maybe I'm just weird, but I feel like it makes me look more girly and cute (Not to say you're not cute or something if you're tall or average height!). However, there are draw backs.... like my driving instructor making me sit on a pillow while driving since I was under 5ft 4... or the main issue that brings me here....

I CAN'T CARRY WEIGHT WHATSOEVER! Being so short makes things such a hassle at times. 5 pounds of weight on me can look like 10 or 15 pounds on someone much taller. I HATE that feeling. I'm 17 years old and going into my senior year in August. I don't want to be remembered as that fat chick from Calculus or something. I want to be the chick that people love to talk to because she's funny and smart... I know looks aren't everything, but it's hard making friends when people just look at you and judge you right of the bat. I want to fit in with people and make friends and get asked out to go on dates and not have to wait every 2 or 3 years to have a boyfriend....

I want to feel comfortable in my own skin and be able to see the person I know I am inside. So, I've decided this has to be my summer to fix things; to make myself seen; to get healthy; to get my life together before going off to college and the real world.

This is my time.... now I just have to get off the couch and the laptop... I need to get motivated. :leaving: No more of this 5ft 1, almost 170 lbs stuff....

Time for change.

P.S. There are photos attached...
I've always been big....

Beach picture-- I'm the one second from the left (in the blue shirt, with black shorts)-- my latest picture of myself (about 170 lbs)

In the dress was my award ceremony before Junior year, ~145lbs.

Last photo was from 7th grade... about 178 lbs and 4ft 11

Hi there!

I feel your pain, I too am 5'1, and although I'm only carrying a little extra weight I looks really awful :( Most of my weight goes onto my thighs and bum, and as I have short legs I feel like it looks a real mess!

Good luck and I look forward to seeing your progress :)

My weight is EVERYWHERE. lol It goes to my arms, where it looks like fake muscle but is all squishy with fat, then to my calves, thighs, stomach, and face... It always seems to come off of my face first if I lose the weight.

It sucks having my old "fat" jeans become my only pair of comfortable jeans now.... And it's already hard enough finding jeans. I get the "short" sizes and they're still too long! :O

I know what you mean. A lot of things you're saying seems so similar to what happened to me. When I started gaining a lot of weight, people would say "wow you're arms are so muscular." I would secretly keep to myself that it's really fat....
I also buy petite pants and they are still too long most of the time. I'm 5'3".

Welcome to the forum hun. It's nice to be in a place where people understand what you're going through or what you've gone through.

Ha, it's nice to know that I'm not alone. :) I hope you stick around so we can talk every now and then....
I have no clue about the arm thing.... I've had it since I was 8 and I have yet to see anyone with arms that look similar. It's very odd looking and makes shirts with, or without, sleeves an uncomfortable thing.

Hello from Canada

Hi, my name is Richard and althought I live in Canada we have a number of things in common:

Texas
My son and his family live in Texas (Schertz-San Antonio area).

Height and weight
I'm 5'.5" and I'm overweight.

Ok let's see if I can cheer you up!

Did you know that the best way for you to loose weight is by redirecting calories, redirecting the calories so that they feed muscle instead of sticking to the fat!

The process of redirecting calories starts when you build new muscle. The new muscle starts to demand calories, calories that would normally go to increasing your stored fat. The calories that previously fed fat are redirected to feed hungry muscles. The new muscle starts to burn fat and it does this 24/7!

Did you know that it takes 100 calories a day to maintain 1 pound of muscle?
So if you add 5lbs of muscle and no you will not look muscular, 5lbs of muscle spread over your body will simply have toning effects. Ok, If you exercise and add 5lbs of muscle you will burn and extra 500 calories a day feeding those muscles.

How does that sound?

cheers Richard

Wow..complete and utter bullshit right there. I'd delete it but he didn't actually break a rule.
