Hello, everyone!

I'm a 23 year-old male currently weighing 104 kg (230 lb., 16.4 stone) and 191 cm tall (6'3''). I've always been husky, ever since I was a little kid, but I've never been rotund or obese, just always fuller than necessary and overweight (though this got worse after high school, after which point I spent considerably less time doing sports).

I recently decided that I want to lose weight in order to feel better mentally and physically every day, and in this way be able to focus better and get more work done.

I joined a gym 2 days ago and have gone both days since for 1.5-2 hour sessions, and I had a great time. I spent about 30 minutes on the treadmill, 30 minutes cycling, and as much time trying out the various weight machines. Today my muscles felt sore, though, so I decided to take a rest day. I felt the price is really reasonable (~20 euro a month), and the equipment, atmosphere, clientele and employees seem great.

Anyway, I know very little about fitness, and I'd appreciate a few basic pointers to get me on the right path. Namely: is it good to eat every 2-2.5 hours so your body burns more fat - does that work? and: should I focus on losing enough weight to reach a comfortable spot (most likely 85-90 kilos), or should I also do some weight training in the meanwhile? In other words, do you need to burn fat before building muscle, or can you do both concurrently? I've heard various theories, and I don't know which are true.

Thanks!

Thanks for the tips! The knowledge that you're moving in the right direction can be an elusive thing, but is worth so much when you have it.
