I just thought I'd leave my first post here and introduce myself. My significant other introduced me to this site and it seems like a great place to go to for support, advice and just venting about weight loss and such.
So what's my story? Basically I gained the classic "freshman 15", though in my 2nd year of college. After I joined the workforce, I was trapped in a desk job and over about a year I noticed I had gone up a few more pounds on the scale. Now that I'm edging closer and closer to 160 (ACK!), I know I have to get more serious.
In high school I always thought of myself as the chubby, plain girl and still have a hard time dealing with that self-image stuff. However, in my last year of high school I quickly dropped 20 pounds. I started jogging every day after school and wasn't even trying to lose weight. I was done to a too-skinny 120 and was eating like a poor bachelor when I moved out of my parents house. I soon after gained some weight (when I got a steady job) and maintained 132 for years. Then... college.
Somewhere between the ages of 23 and 25 I went from 145 to 155. And here I am... up and down from 150 to 158 since the summer of 2005. I tried weight watchers and tried telling myself I'd run every day... it just didn't happen.
Thankfully I'm now at a place in my life where work and my social life have balanced out, and I even have a great man in my life (who also struggled with weight and is an inspiration as to what willpower and hardwork can do!).
I feel more motivated these days, though just got through mono and had to take a few weeks off to get healthy again. Hopefully I'm 100% and will start hitting the gym 3-4 times a week without any more setbacks. I joined a great gym in November and really love working out there. So now, with the new year here and an encroaching trip to Las Vegas with my boyfriend, I'm trying to stay motivated and just get healthier, trimmer and feel better about myself
