I was so excited to find this forum. I'm having a bit of a difficult time getting into the groove of having a healthier lifestyle! I've struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. About 3 years ago I lost quite a bit of weight. I still have some of that weight off but I've gained about 20 pounds back. I'm trying to get back on track and get rid of that 20 pounds! I need to lose about 60 pounds total but it just seems like such a huge amount! I'm trying to have smaller goals but I am definitely an emotional eater and find myself eating when I'm not even hungry. I look forward to meeting others and hearing your stories as well.

In what you wrote you put something about being a emotional eater. Have you ever tried just writing in a journal whats going on and how you're feeling and what's making you feel that way. i do that and it actually helps, but man its a bitch goin back and reading some of it.

What exactly are your smaller goals?

I personally have started a "Weight Loss Journal". lol i think it sounds a little funnier because heck i don't know if i'll actually lose weight. But it just records stuff down and what not.

One thing that you could do when you are thinking about eating while you are emotionally unstable and not even hungry is you could drink water. Which 1. is good for you. 2. is good to help kinda lose a little weight and just keep you healthy. 3. it can fill you up and just satisfy your little need.

We are all here to give suggestions, advice and explain our own little stories :) i'm pretty new to this as well!

GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks for the words of advice. As far as small goals I have, I'm referring to trying to set goals of losing 5-10 pounds at a time, instead of thinking so far ahead and thinking..."Wow I've got to lose a ton of weight!"

Yes, that is totally understandable. I feel that way as well. I mean reaching a small goal is a lot easier than lookin at the WHOLE picture and trying to tackle the whole thing all at once!

Good Luck!

at first.. when i was 260.. I was always like man.. i wish i could loose weight.. i remember every morning in the shower I would be like.. you know what.. todays the day... later on that day id eat burgers etc.. lmfao.. anyways.. point being.. you cant just give it all up in one fell swoop.. it took me like 6months to get from 260 to 225.. and only around 1 month to get from 225 to 210.. because when i hit 225 i was like wow.. i look different..my double chin is kindaaa gone.. lol once you see results you get addicted..

good luck and let us know your progress

Same exact thing man, every day, I'd say I'll lose weight, and i'll find myself just sitting on the couch all day, or the computer, or eating a tub of ice cream (lol).

But when that momentum starts picking up, and you see changes, feel changes, you just want to get out there and work harder!

Btw, congradulations on the previous weight lost ladybug. At least your not me, I have about 80+ lbs to lose :D

**edit I'm also taking NOXPLODE** which is probably a benefactor to that.. but still..

lol. nice. good little motivation though. :) good luck you guys! i'm workin on this whole thing. lost a few pounds.
but now i am on a liquid diet, not by choice at all. my stomach is basically rejecting any type of WHOLE food. so i have to i guess build my nurishment back up with liquid stuff :( which i'm not 100% sure about this one. but i mean even having a little bowl of Chicken Noodle soup last night made me tummy hurt and made me puke and what not..
somethings up with this. and i'm not diggin it at all...

Welcome to WLF. Have you considered starting a diary to tell us more about your plan? Just go to the diary section and start a new thread and keep posting in the same thread.

You will lose the weight. Most of us don't wait long enough for results. Getting started was the hardest part for me. Now that I know what I"m doing its much easier. I'm losing four pounds a month and eating 20% below maintenance (15 calories x bodyweight in pounds).

See you round.

Well, I was doing ok last week. I lost 2.8 pounds and then the weekend and Easter happened! I have Easter candy in my apartment and of course I can't let it go to waste! I was on a roll...but I am still doing better. I'm trying to take my lunch to work each day and that's helping. I'm also trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Throw the candy away! You'll only kick yourself when those 2.8 pounds come back because of stale Easter candy!

Keep up the hard work!

No need to waste the candy!

Just don't eat it! :)

Find some skinny little kid on the way to school and trade them for their apple. Nothing is wasted and everyone is happy! Especially the kid! ;)

Baby steps, lol. I found too, that i was like yes today is the day, then nothing, but junk and couch time. Untill i found and start thinking you know what! they have, so i can. Good luck!

I didn't throw the candy away but I did put it in the cabinet instead of leaving it out on the counter in the kitchen. That seems to be helping today! Out of sight out of mind! I did much better eating right today. I appreciate the words of encouragement! I'm so glad I found this site!
