Hi Everyone!

My name is Laura, I am from Texas, and I am new to this forum! I am 5'4" and am 154lbs, according to everything I have read, I am considered "overweight", and I admit, I do need to lose some pounds to feel better about myself.

I know that my weaknesses are few, but HUGE.

My biggest weakness is soda! Dr. Pepper, mostly. I can't find a drink that I can substitute for Dr. Pepper that I like. I have tried most teas, I'm not a big fan of water unless it's ice cold, I'm not a big milk fan or diet dr. pepper fan. That is my biggest weakness, and if anyone has an alternative drink that is good for me that I may like I'm all ears.

Other than that, the other weakness I have is snacking late, which I can put a stop to, that's not a big deal.

99% of my family is overweight or obese. My dad had the gastric bypass surgery and that helped him out a lot. One other of my biggest problems is that I had a C-Section with my son and the skin hangs over the incision area. I had my C-Section almost 11 years ago, so I know that anything my body was going to do to boost itself back into shape, it has already done (or not done), and I am told that the ONLY way to get rid of the excess skin is by surgery. I do not have $15,000 for surgery, but if there is an alternative to that, please let me know.

Anyway, thank you all for reading this, and any advice is well accepted. I'm pleased to meet anyone and hopefully I can give something to offer advice as well.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

You could try soda water / sparkling mineral water and see if you like that. You can buy it with a hint of flavour - or make your own by squeezing in a few drops of lemon juice or similar.

I think that a lot of people prefer their water to be ice cold. I certainly do... I am sure that I have read that your body has to work harder to process it so it is better for you... Don't quote me on that - but I'm sure that I read something like that.

There is no real problem with snacking late - as long as the snacks fall into your calorie limit of your food plan... lots of people think that any eating at night is bad - but it was shown not to be a real issue some years ago... the only problem is that as a habit it can lead people towards exceeding their calorie allowance. You have to differentiate between mindful snacks and mindless snacks.

Quite a lot of us end up in need of a tummy tuck because of loose skin. I could certainly do with one... I guess that it will be the first thing that quite a few of us treat ourselves to when we win the lottery... Creaming skin can help things a bit and our skin appreciates us drinking sufficient water and eating sufficient (but not too much) fats (preferably healthy fats)... The bottom line is that being a healthy weight (compared to overweight or obese) is much more than being hot in a bikini - it is central to living a healthy life.

Good luck with your project.
