Hi all,
I'm a 23 year old male from England who currently weighs in around 15st 8lbs and is 6ft 1 tall.
i've decided that i need to shift the belly and the moobs and start to get back down to what i was a few years ago. I wouldnt say i was fat all over, such as my arms are fairly thin, my legs are more muscle than they are fat but its my belly area that is a definate problem.
I've noticed recently, over say the last six months, that more and more people comment on my weight, be it a playful joke by my friends or some one trying to wind me up with nasty remarks on the footie pitch (soccer pitch for my american cousins!).
About me and my life:
Fitness/exercise
I've gotta be honest i've got a gym membership but the last time i visited the place was probably June time. I'm a little scared by the place due to being so unfit compared to most of the people in there! Every one else there seems to be so slim!
I've never gone by the bench press or free weights either as the body builders there are far too scary, they'd laugh me out of the place if i went over and start to try to lift the puny weights i can manage!
I do, do some exercise however; I play 5-a-side footie on a wednesday for half an hour, which is really intense and gives me a great work out. I play an 11-a-side game of footie on a saturday which is also a real good work out. I play for the full 90 mins but if i am being honest i'm probably only any good for the first 45 and then i am running on empty and dont do that much. I do also play on a thursday night too, but thats in goal rather than out on pitch so its not much of a work out for me.
When i'm in the gym i lack a bit of direction i think. I've looked so many places for tips and what not and it seems every one is saying some thing slightly different which just gets me all confused. I would have a personal trainer to help but i really cannot afford it. I dont know weather its best to just try to run for 30 mins without stopping, or set myself a target of 5 miles a visit and keep running/walking till i get there?!
Lifestyle
My life style is one where i work monday - friday, 8-5 sitting down all day in an office job. I love a good pint or 5 on any day that ends in a 'y'! but that said if there is only wine going i can convince myself to drink that. Only really a bottle will do though, there is hardly any point if your just having the one glass!
I also have a girlfriend that i have to fit in on an evening, as well as a second job behind a bar on a friday and some time sat night.
My average week looks like this:
Day Evening
Monday Work Seeing the better half
Tuesday Work Seeing the better half (usually a trip to the cinema)
Wednesday Work 5-a-side
Thursday Work 5-a-side
Friday Work Work
Saturday 11-a-side Night on the town/Work (depends)
Sunday Nothing Seeing the better half
Diet
First things first, i'm a fussy eater and i know i am. Its easier to list the things i do like than the things i dont! I only eat chicken and pork as far as meat goes and i probably have far too much dairy in my life!
I know this is a big one for me and some thing i need to change fast! I'm currently trying to eat my way through all the crap food i have left in the freezer so i can start to improve on this. I've bought the food so i might as well eat it!
I've got two main weaknesses; beer and crisps. I drink far too much alcohol, problem is i'm just at home in a pub! Its also the main way i socialise, i'm lost for ideas if some one doesnt want to go to the pub! I'm also a crisp-a-holic! i just cannot resist the things, certainly not if i have had a few beers. I have a packet without fail every day for lunch, but i have swapped to the baked versions to try to cut how fatty they are.
My average day foodwise looks like this;
Lunch
2 x Cheese Sandwich
bag of walkers baked salt and vinegar crisps
a muller fruit corner yoghurt
Dinner
6 x chicken dippers (or some chicken themed frozen thing)
Chips
Baked Beans
During the day i'll probably eat one or two bits of fruit as snacks as well as drinking 6 cups of tea and around 3 or 4 pints of squash. You then have any alcohol i may consume on top.
Well sorry about the real long post, it kinda just grew a life of its own as i started typing lol! but i think i must have covered absolutely every thing about me there!
