Hi All

I am from Perth Western Australia and I would like to know if this is normal. I am 51 years old and have always exercisesd on and off for many many years.

My resting heart rate is: 69 -70 and when I do bodypump ( cardio with weights) and or walking on high incline ( max height with speed at 6.5km) on treadmill/ stepping machine/ cross trainer etc... I can get my heart rate close to 177 -180. I don't stay there long, but I can "get" there. My average heart rate workout rate is about 148 - 160 depending on the exercise. My Problem is that I sweat profusely.. and I mean dripping... so much so that I have to change my tee shirt after exercising as its so wet! Is this normal or do I have a heart problem. I'm really embarrased about this but I really enjoy exercising and was just wondering why i sweat so much.

this is really hard for any of us on there to give advice on. the best I can do is talk to your physician ... your heart rate does seem high. Sweating is your body trying to cool you down, so if you are sweating too much, than maybe you are working to hard (you may not feel it but your body is signaling something). Again, though, talk to your doctor.
