Hi all,
This year has seen me make the biggest change to my weight ever, I’ve always been overweight, I’m 6’2 and have weighed about 300-400lbs for most of my teen and adult life (30). After seeing photos myself at a wedding in November last year I realized that I had to start dealing with my weight or I will be forever ‘locked’ in as I am and when I finally go up the courage to step on some scales, I was a massive 409lbs *cry*
I said to hubby enough is enough this has to change, we decided that I could leave my job and start working on my fitness and wellbeing full time. We are VERY lucky that I’m able to do this and hubby is well and truly backing me on this.
So my plan is to take 16 months to get myself in shape and then keep it!
On the 1st of February I quit my job. So Scary, never been unemployed since I was 16.
At the start I would wake up at 6am and go for a walk, about 2 or 3 miles at the start and then sit down and read for an hour or 2 and then get up and walk home. I would then repeat this again after lunch. I would also do it again at night; I did this for the all of January every day for the whole month, even if it rained, though I didn’t read
. I also reduced my food intake, simply stopped all sugar, high carb, diary and fast foods and was eating about 1600-2000 calories a day.
By the end of February my weight was 387lbs, I was ecstatic and hubby was so pleased that he went out and got me a cross trainer, an exercise bike, some weights and an iPod.
So far for March I still walk 7 days a week but only in the morning, I then started to use the cross trainer and the exercise bike 3 times a day for 30 minutes sessions each. I also cut my calories down to 1500-1700 a day. I’ve kept this up all month. I’m starting to feel great and no longer miss sugar, dairy or fatty foods.
My current weight is 369lbs. I’ve got another 14 months and about 200lbs *oh my gosh* to lose, I might not get the whole way down to my ideal weight, but I’m sure as heck going to try. Next month I plan to ramp up the total exercise time per day as well as increase the walking distance.
I’m still too ashamed to join a gym, but I do have plenty of exercise DVD’s to get the basics from.
For those who worry, I see my doctor once every 3 weeks and will continue to do so.
My goal on here is to keep a little blog to keep myself fully motivated and to post up some pictures of my progress.
For the first time in my life I feel like I’m now in control of my weight and not the other way around.
Hugs
