Hi everyone,

I'm Dan, and taking another shot at weight loss! I used to weight 130kg. At the beginning of 2008, I decided to lose weight, and lost 4 stone. In May, however, I got some bad health news, and it totally threw me off. Since then, the weight has slowly crept back on :( and I'm now back up to 120kg. I can't believe I let it happen - clothes shopping is so much harder, heat affects me more, less energy and all the other horrible things that go with carrying too much fat!

I manage a pharmacy, and have spent so much time doing research on diet, exercise, all the biology involved in weight and weight loss etc etc etc. What I find hard to keep now is motivation. I seem to do ok for a week or two then fall off the wagon, its so tedious! I remember when I was being healthy and losing weight, I used to think 'my god, how could anyone NOT want to lead a healthy lifestyle?!' How easy it is to slip!

Anyway, this is me shutting up now :) I am hoping to find the motivation I need on here. I won't have internet access regularly for a week or two from now, but when I do I am gonna try and check in every evening after work to chat to others :)

So hello everyone, and good luck on your journeys :D

Hi Dan

A huge welcome to the forum.

I hope the health issue is getting sorted for you, nothing worse than not feeling right or worrying about health.

Your post says a hundred things and you recognise that support and motivation are going to be key to keeping the weight off. Sometimes it takes masses and masses of support and rewiring the brain to ensure we keep on track. I know you can do this, you know it too it would be ludicrous to suggest otherwise.

You have to think about things you enjoy to steer away from the pressure of trying to do everything over night. Is there a particular exercise you like, can you get more active to help lose the pounds.

When you get more access to the net, ensure you log on each morning or evening for 5 minutes if you can. Setting your goals clearly for the day can often help and keeping a daily diary has done wonders for me.

Like you, I think to myself how good I felt last summer and how the hell can I put this back on as it makes me feel rubbish. Those thoughts are now deleted as this is a new challenge without negative thoughts. This time I am seeking support just like you, motivation to keep me going. Until I learn how to eat sensibly.

Best of luck to you Dan.
