Hi all - From Singapore

Hi everyone, i'm a 27yr old male from Singapore.

I have been obese since i was 10. I used to be very active as a child. Swimming, Taekwondo, Tennis, Jogging, there was something to do everyday. Things took a turn when I broke my arm while playing catching with some kids. For 6 months I couldn't take part in any activity. Everyday I would just come home from school and watch tv. I also have a tendency to indulge in my favourite foods.

Even after my arm healed, I guess I was just too used to the laid-back lifestyle that I never went back into the sports that i used to do. By the time i was 18, i was 100kg.

I guess things got slightly better when I was called up to serve National Service. Within one month, i lost 10kg. But I had the help of my platoon mates (all obese) losing weight with me, and the encouragement of my sergeants. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep to the routine after passing out of training. Slowly, i put back all the weight that I had lost, and I was back at 100kg by the time i was 25.

Early 2010, i started a weight loss program as I was preparing for my pre-wedding photoshoot in April. I only had 3 months, so i did the best i could. I went to the gym everyday during lunch time, and I studied intensively on good eating habits and started counting calories. It wasn't easy. I didn't get to eat with my colleagues during lunch time, and i had to control eating all my favourite foods. I allowed myself a sinful meal now and then, but only if it didn't exceed my allowed daily calorie intake.

I managed to lose 10kg over the period of 3 months! I was pretty proud of my self motivation. I still gym every 2 days and i still count calories. I'm not in a rush to lose weight like before, but i know if i allow myself to go back into my old ways, it's very hard to get out of the slack.

Although i feel fitter (not very fit, i'm still another 15kg away from being a decent weight), I have some concerns about my physical appearance such as moobs (man-boobs), tummy fat which is so hard to lose, and apparently my change in diet has given me a balding problem.

Well that's me on a never-quest for vanity.

Thanks for reading!

Sounds like you're doing pretty good so far. Also good that you're not in a rush to lose weight. I think that's where most plans fails. Welcome and good luck.
