Hi Folks!
I'm a 46 year old father of three boys aged 18, 16 and 2 (second litter). I have struggled with my weight since the age of 6. My weight ranges from about 200 lbs to just over 300 lbs.
I have been on every diet that's come around and lost a good bit of weight on them all (except the chopstick diet where you can eat what you want as long as you eat with chopsticks. But you can't eat anything that falls off. I became so adept at using chopsticks that my Japanese friends were impressed). But I gained all the weight back.
Anyway it took me 40 years to understand that the problem was bigger than a simple "diet" could solve. Several times in my life I have been at my ideal weight and still I gained the weight back. Diets help you lose weight but what helps you make the permanent lifestyle changes that keep the weight off? That's what I need to know.
I'm here in search of a community to hear how others deal with this. I've always been caught up in the macho I don't need any help, I should be able to do this by myself trap. Well apparently I cannot do it by myself so I am trying something new.
I weigh 266 now and want to get down under 200 lbs for the last time.
