Hi everyone!

My name is Cristie and I'm 31. I live just outside of Dallas, TX. I work in Information Security so I have a very sedentary job. It's not too uncommon for me to work 55-75 hours a week, but I try to keep it under 50.

Having a sedentary job doesn't help me much since I've always been heavy (size 16 in 7th grade). Right now I weigh 325 pounds..It makes me feel like vomiting to even put that in writing. :ack2: I am a type 2 diabetic.

I have a wonderful, supportive husband who loves me no matter what and a great family life. My work life is stressful, but I enjoy my job and I'm good at it.

Last week I went to the doctor to talk about getting the lapband procedure done. He thought it was a good idea. He put me on an 1800 calorie diet, 30 minutes of exercise a day and Meridia. What I'd really like to do is take the 6 months of evaluation period that's required by my insurance company and lose enough weight to show myself that I don't NEED it done.

Does anyone know of anything I can do while sitting at my desk to burn some extra calories? I've got a hot chick in me who is dying to get out...

Also, if there's anyone who is/was in my same situation, please befriend me! I don't have anyone locally to lean on me (besides the hubs). We moved here about 2 years ago and I haven't met anyone outside of my daughter's friends parents and co-workers.

Thanks for reading and good luck everyone.

Hey Cristie! :waving: Welcome to WLF. What's your ideal goal weight? If I may suggest, just try to exercise in your spare time, any spare time you may have, whether it's being on an elliptical or cycle while watching tv, or whatever it may be... perhaps small changes like taking the stairs instead of an elevator at work? If you have either, that is. We started around the same weight, I started at 315, now down to 299 as of last Monday. We can do this together! I have faith in you! See you around the forums!! :seeya:

Hi Cristie!

I've got a desk job too. I dont work as many hours as you do a week, but I do work 12 hour shifts 3 to 4 days a week.

I found this office workout about a month ago, while looking for ways to get some exercise while at work.

They seem simple enough... only equipment you may need is a water bottle.

I haven't tried doing those exercises on that link i provided, but at least it will give you an idea of what you could possibly do.

Woo Hoo! I'm all about doing this with someone else :) Thanks!

I'm not sure what my goal weight should be, but I'm shooting for about 170 hopefully. It should probably be lower, but I'll have to play it by look/feel.

Thanks for the link, Veronica! - I can definitely squeeze some of these in during the day. I need to start forcing myself to stop for a few minutes every now and then anyway.
