I haven't really followed anything specific - but i stopped eating junk food, and started running about 2 miles a day probably 5-6 days a week for the past year on and off. I've dropped about 35-40 pounds since last summer. I'm a 16 year old guy - if it matters. But anyways, I've noticed i lost a lot of weight in my face / upper body - but my stomach area is still not as skinny as i want it to be; however, around my chest and ribs it seems like it may be getting a little too bony. I know there's no such thing as target weight loss, so I'm just wondering if i keep running as much and keep my diet the same - if my stomach / love handles will get smaller - and my chest / ribs won't get too much skinnier. I'm 6'2 / 185 pounds.

I've also been doing a lot of Leg Lifts and Crunches - i can notice my upper 2 abs a lot more and my 2nd set coming in a tiny bit, do u think just those 2 exercises is enough to keep noticing a difference? I do about 3 sets of 20 reps of crunches and 3x15 leg lifts and i'm going to increase as i get more used to them. I do them slowly and properly though.

I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff - thanks,

Running is going to lean you out and make you skinny ... yeah. :) What you need to do is focus on building muscle and strength. Crunches and leg lifts will work your core, but they do nothing for your legs, arms, shoulders, etc.

Look into more full body workout stuff .. things like squats, deadlifts, etc. Burpees are killer and will work your WHOLE body if you are just doing body resistance stuff adn don't have access to a full gym.

There are tons of resources online ... check out the stickies here in the exercise forums and pay particular attention to what Steve has to say on the subject. The man knows his stuff. :)

Thanks, i plan on getting a gym membership soon anyways. But ill check out the forums some more too.

Hello Evan,

Since most of the fat is stored in your stomach (I assume) this will be the last part to get smaller. Generally, you will burn excess bodyfat in your arms, chest and face, but your stomach will be the last place.

In other words, cardio will burn excess bodyfat in your body simultaneously, but your stomach will be last because is where most fat is stored.

Have a good day!
Rick.
