Hey

ok new to this site. I've been going to the gym for about an hour 3 times a week and going out on occasional jogs. I spend half an hour non stop jogging on the treadmill then bout 30 mins on the weights for legs and arms. If im trying to lose weight should i concentrate on the running? Should i be aming for more than 30 mins a night on the treadmill? my calfs are pretty hot and tight after the 30 mins. thanks! :)

How long have you been doing this, and how are your results thus far? Everyone is different, but post your height/weight/current eating plan and we'll try and help. Also read, a lot of this has already been covered in numerous ways, so start reading the other threads in the board and you'll start to know what's good and what's not.

Don't work your whole body on one day, split it up a bit. Keep with the cardio, and keep intensity high. Cut out junk food from your diet, eat 5-6 times a day smaller meals, drink lots of water.

On the mental side of things, don't weigh yourself/stare at yourself in the mirror everyday. Try doing it every week or other week so you can actually see results.

Also, how many pounds to a stone?

stone = 14lbs.

Look into interval training to shed off weight. In my experience it works better than steady-state cardio. Whole-body training is alright but you may need to spend more than 30 minutes doing it. I'm not suggesting a 2-3 hr. training session but maybe more like 1hr. or so. A recent thread discussed cardio before or after training and it was unanimous....Do the cardio AFTER training.

Good luck,
DM
