I'm new to this forum. I've been trying for a long time to lose 20 pounds and to get fit. My problem is I'm an emotional eater. I eat when I'm stressed and anytime I decide to get back in shape I tend to over-eat first. Guess it's my way of endulging before I take the big plunge. Also, I have a stressful job and and not alot of free time because I have kids. I guess what I'm looking for in this site is some support from people who know what I'm going through. Anyway, gotta go to work. Back later.

I'm an emotional eater too! And it's hard to break the cycle! When you're down, you like to do the things that make you feel good, and food for me has so many great memories attached to it! However, I'm not finding that when I feel down, I do other things that I enjoy...a lot of the time it's working out! Going to the gym has become something that makes me feel good, because my weight is one of a few things in life I control! But taking control of it, I feel fantastic!!

So I think by you coming on here, and taking control of your weight, you've made fantastic progress in fighting your emotional eating :)
 
So happy you found us. Stick around a while and browse our forum ^_^ There are some threads on emotional eating and stress.
 
Thanks guy's. Sometimes I feel so pumped to start being healthy again and then I get stressed, or see something that tastes so good, and I think "who am I kidding?" The older you get the worse it is I think. Right now I'm fighting with my daughter who's having an argument with her brother. I'm always the mediator. For once I wish they could solve their own problems. lol On a brighter note I have the day off.
 
Have you heard the question "Does that taste as good as being slender feels?"

It helps me not pick up anything terribly bad for me because the answer is always "no"
 
My problem is I'm weak when it comes to food, but I'm still trying. I want to resolve it now before it gets too out of control. I've only put on a little weight and am out of shape. I know people who are extremely unhealthy and I don't want to be one of them. If I don't do something about it now, I'll be headed in the same direction. I just have to make time for it and think fit. I think talking to you guys will be a big help.
