Hey everyone..
I'm seventeen and I'm overweight. I'm not obese..Never have been. But I'm about 40 pounds overweight..and i'm 5ft7..
I'm just sick and tired of not being able to buy clothes that everyone else feels good in..like shorts..or tops that don't have sleeves..or some types of dresses that i find stunning.
i want to be able to live like a teenager should be able to. i want to be happy with my body.
Problem is, whenever i start to get motivated to lose weight, and i exercise, i do it for a little while and then i get into my old habits again after like a month..i lose about 10 pounds each time and gain them back again.
So this time, i'm starting again, and i want to lose the 40 lbs by the end of august..by latest october..but preferrably before..it's the beginning of winter here now, i wanna have the body i've always dreamed of by summer. i really want this. i want it for me. i love myself as i am but i really would like to feel more comfortable in my body..

i think this forum could really help:) ive read some of the posts and they really are inspirational..

so good luck everyone, we can do this :D

Hey there, welcome to the forum.

It's great you want to lose weight, but you have to really motivate yourself this time to not yo-yo your weight. Every time it comes back, it is harder to lose and you end up with a little less muscle than you started with.

I was in the same position as you, I would lose a little for a few weeks and come back worse than before. My problem was that I tried to do everything in a single day, but this time I tried something differently. What I did was start with tiny changes like drinking only unsweetened tea and water, eating fiber rich cereal for breakfast and using brown rice instead of white. Eventually I added in shadow boxing for cardio and started doing crunches, push-ups and such for a little strength.

So far I have not snacked at night like I used to, I eat good breakfast and my dinners are pretty decent health wise. Eventually I will cut out most of the unhealthy food I eat and replace it with better food, but I never plan to give up on my occasional (very occasional) pizza, hamburger....haha made myself hungry. For the first time since I was on the swim team in high school, I weigh less than 190 (from 205 when I started) and I don't feel like I did much work at all.

Small changes was ideal for me and I believe we both probably have the same mindset in weight loss. Take it easy, give yourself time, make small changes and the weight will come off without you even knowing it at first. You will have to work for the last maybe ten pounds, but when that time comes it won't seen like a lofty goal.

Good luck!

Hey, sorry took me so long to get back to you. Yes I would definately like us to help each other through this. I think it helps to have a buddy. As of today May 6, 2010 I weighed 180 lb...but with this weekend being mother's day I'm sure there will be alot of food involved so I am going to try to be on my best behaviour. :) Glad you stopped by to say hello, hope to hear your success stories soon.
