Hello Hello, my names Jim. I'm a 23 year old guy and when I was last weighed about a month ago, I was 280lbs (though I've recently been ill and have lost a few pounds as my jeans started falling off and I had to start wearing an old pair!)
Now where do I begin? I'll try to keep it short as I have a habit of talking for ages :rotflmao: Ever since I was about 10 I've been a big guy, up until I was 17 I played rugby which I loved until I injured my knee and was told that I had to stop by my Doc ( I was injured by own teammate!) so up until that point I kept pretty fit. Then I when I went to Uni I stacked on the pounds until I met a very good friend of mine who took me to the gym with him and to ju jitsu classes. We trained alot (weights and cardio) and I had an excellent diet (no booze or junk food). I felt really great and managed to lose nearly 50lbs. But this was in my final year, so when exam time came round I stopped ju jitsu and barely trained at all. After I came home I couldn't find a job and totally lacked the motivation to train and then when I did eventually get a job I never got back into it apart from the odd weights session. But now I've decided to get into shape as I have 2 weddings to go to and I'm best man at both.
I'd like some support and advice, as I think it will help keep me motivated. I've been reading on the forum for a while now and have only just plucked up the courage to join, it seems like a great place! Thanks for reading - man I went on for ages! :waving:

Hi and welcome! :)

Dont' worry about going on ... I tend to write novels of posts. Long posts are my thing! :)

My first bit of advice to you would be this: exercise is great and can help you lose and keep the weight off, but eating is 80% or more of the battle. If you eat a healthy diet, you can learn to maintain even during those times when you can't get in a full workout.

Read the stickies on nutrition and portion size and I think that'll give you a good start! :)
