Hello there fello fitness enthusiasts, my name is Steven, and i am new to these forums; but, like many of us, i am not new to the subject of weight loss and fitness. Since this is my first time posting here allow me to tell you a little about myself.
I am approaching 20 years old - my birthday is on October 31st (is that halloween? yes it is! OMG!
... i get that alot lol
) and i, like many, was battling my wieght for years; which is made al the more challenging when your a kid, having all the negative peer attention.
I was a very healthy kid till around the age of 13, i was roughly 7.5 stone (from the UK - Scotland) which is about 105 Ilbs. I was in foster care with a lovely couple who treated me like family; but a member of my own family came back on the scene and said they would take care of me, so i was basically given to them without a say in the matter, still being a minor.
So i left the care of this couple who maintained healthy eating habits etc, and encouraged me to engage in sport so on and so forth; and ofcourse my aunt whom i went to live with was morbidly obese; and she let me eat whatever i wanted; and so, being a kid, i was partial to a bit of cake, which turned into alot of cake. Long story short i doubled my weight and then some in the space of 2 years, becoming an obese teenager.
Obviously that physical state and the bullying that comes with it basically destroyed me, i resented my aunt for it and left to go and live with my mum again, but her habits were on the same par as my aunts and things only got worse. Fast Forward to the present day and im 19 years old, with a body fat % of under 10, and as a result; six pack abs. How? well let me tell you.
Being 19 stone (266 Ilbs) at the age of 17 is soul destroying; and i was so angry at myself for letting it happen that i vowed to research the subject until i understood my body well enough to make changes FAST and EFFECTIVLEY. Before, everything i tried at the gym didnt work, or it worked a little but not enough for me to care, and diet was constantly a problem because my mum was poor and bought convenience foods all the time.
But although i couldnt find a way to get rid of my body fat, i wanted to atleast productively use my time, so i researched while i was at my mums house, (and still gaining wieght i might add).
Fast forward to near my 18th birthday and i moved to the center of glasgow to start my university Honours Degree in Computer Games Design, and i knew that i could finally put what i had discoverd into good use. So, i enrolled at the local gym and a year later, youd think i was a different person.
But what did i learn? well thats why i am here, posting this now, because i want to share my knowledge with you, after all "Knowledge is Power".
So thats just a little intro to me and my journey so far; any comments or questions at all are most certainly welcome
