Hey Everyone

Although I'm not too overweight, I do have some extra punds around my belly. And it's this extra weight that prevents me from building toned abs.

I workout 3 days a week (weight training, cycling, and jogging), and write a blog on the subject of exercise. I've come here to learn more and maybe share what I learn with others. :)

Your blog mentions the buddy system, that can be really tough! I was stuck without a workout buddy for a few months, it can be hard finding a friend who actually IS dedicated and wants to work out. Do you have any tips on it? I've already been all over craigslist and myspace, for example, and have been hunting on several other websites and forums (It's kind of how I got here, actually), but finding a workout partner can really be a challenge.

Welcome!

Most fitness buffs recommend using a friend or family member as a workout buddy, Qjay. So if somebody close to you can fill that void, definitely go that route first.

I realize how hard it can be to find somebody too. And when you do find someone they're usually not as motivated as you to exercise. They'll often bail on you - I once had a friend who didn't answer his phone until I told him we didn't have to run together anymore.

Posting to newsgroups like the Weight Loss Forum is a good place to start. Just open a thread, tell people about yourself (your city, goals, fitness level) and I'm sure somebody will be interested. Make sure both of you know what's expected of you before you workout with a friend though.

naturalphysiques.com is a good website - not sure if you've been there yet.

You can even make a competition or game out of the whole thing. It's really both buddy's responsiblity to keep each other motivated. So a friend who seems like a fizzle could just need a little more push.

If the internet doesn't work, try a local gym. Join up and talk to a few people, you'd be surprised who is looking for a buddy too.

And your job is another good place to find a workout buddy. You already know these people (pretty much) and you're comfortable with them.

Maybe this will help you out. ;)
