Hey Everybody! I Need to Lose Weight

I joined today. I'm female and 47 and I need to lose weight and found the link to this board while researching info about the leg muscle pain I'm having. I know a great deal of my trouble is obesity. I think this place will help me stay motivated to stay on track.

I do water aerobics classes (it's easier for me to exercise in water than land) and have been doing that for at least 10 years. Trouble is I shovel in more calories than I burn (but isn't that how it is with most of us?)

I've done diet clubs, pills, fad diets, but nothing has stuck, except my exercise program because it's so much fun. And there's no pressure. Maybe that's why I've failed in the other things. You know, too much focus on the weight loss and pleasing my partner in the diet team or not getting the reward, etc.

Anyway, that's my introduction. See you around the board!
 
Welcome - I'm new too. I am 51 and have been overweight for about the last 15 years - quit smoking then and gradually put on 75-80 pounds...and was already 20-30 lb overweight to start.

I have yoyo'ed a few times too - did Adkins and lost 40 lb or so - then gained it back. This is the most committed I have been - to a lifestyle change rather than a diet. When I get hungry (really bored, rather than hungry) - I come in here and read the forum. It seems to help.

I also like that fact that there's no pressure or gimmicks. It's just people sharing their experiences and we all know by now that it's a continuing journey, not a destination. :cheers2:

You're right. There was a time I'd just shovel food in because it was there. Then I'd sit back and think, why did I do that. I don't even like that! Then I'd eat something tastier to get rid of the dissatisfaction of having ate the other thing.
