Hey all, new here

Heya!

I'm a 22 year old male from New York, 5 foot 11, and weighed about 285 a month ago. (On a scale at a doctor's office) Thankfully, my natural build is such that my chest and shoulders have always been larger than my midsection. But I'm still obviously overweight and need to get healthier. One serious motivation is that my sister's wedding is coming up in April, and I'd like to look better than I am since I'm in the groom's party. The other is I'd like to sign up in the military. (Yes, call me crazy)

I recently decided it was time for me to get back into shape, so I signed up with a gym near to my home. Four to six times a week, I go and run for an hour. I didn't weigh myself, since even when I was in top shape I was vastly heavier than I was 'supposed' to be than people my height, because of my natural body type and my muscle mass. (My neck was just under 19 inches at the time, with no fat - so I'm a very big guy)

I just started noticing a change, though. My arms have lost almost all of their weight, and my muscles are actually at the surface instead of buried beneath a bit of fat. My stomach is starting to disappear!

So I decided to weigh myself. I now weigh 266.5 pounds, according to the scale at the gym, which I was completely shocked by (and motivated).

I haven't really changed my eating habits. I don't have a sweet tooth, don't like ice cream, cookies, fast food, or anything like that... I was just very sedentary - I work on computers.

Yeah, this post is getting long. But my 'basic' plan is to just keep running 4-6 times a week until I get down to a point I'm comfortable with, then continue to run and start lifting weights again.

Well, that's it. It's cool to have found a forum like this for motivation and workout tips.
