Hernia surgery: 17 months ago- abs feel...

like they are being ripped out after exercise. Surgeon says everything is fine. It gets so bad I have to stop for a few days... Any opinions??? By the way I am male, 61 years old, and could do my workouts before the surgery.

Maybe it is too soon for you to be pushing yourself so far. Hernia surgery is to repair the tissue that has torn, and depending on how extensive that is, will determine how long it will take to heal.

I am going in for umbilical hernia surgery on the 19th (next week). I put it off over and over because I have kids and had to make sure I could have help for a while to do everyday chores I won't be able to do. Also didn't want to face the downtime. But because I did that it has actually gotten larger  *sigh* so the surgeon said *now*..... I HAVE to do it *now*.

I was told you have to give your body time to heal or you are going to do yourself more damage. Don't rush the process. Some things take time.

my other thoughts would be maybe scar tissue? You did say 17 months, and that could also be a reason why it is causing you some pain.....

I broke my arch bone and the scar tissue from it causes me pain still....it happened 20 years ago. it can be massaged and worked thru to soften the scar tissue, but you have to be diligent and again patience.
