Here's my story

Hi! I'm new here. My name is Kimberly and I'm 19 yr. old.
I have always been unhappy with my weight for as long as I can remember.
I tried a lot of different things to lose weight and while they might work for a bit, I'd always fall off track and gain more weight than I had lost.
Not any more!
I'm getting married in June and when I saw my face/body in my engagement pictures that I took Easter Sunday I couldn't believe how large I had gotten.
I was the biggest I had ever been in my life and right before my wedding! =0
So that very night ( 1 week ago today) I decided to lose weight and finally keep it off.
A week later I have lost 9.6 lbs. by eating smaller portions of food and drinking lots of water.
I'm so proud to have lost so much in 1 week! And I'm NOT starving myself!
Just eating less. :hurray:
I started out at exactly 282.0 lbs. and now I'm 272.4 lbs.
My short term goal weight is 200 lbs. I eventually want to reach 140 lbs.
I need everyone's support to keep me from falling off track again!
Thanks for reading and I'll post pictures later.
<3 Kimberly

Welcome, Kimberly!
Sounds like you had a very successful first week! And, it also sounds like you are being sensible...remember, you need to eat to lose...just make sure it is the right number of calories and the right kinds of foods.

Congrats on your engagement and best of luck on this journey. Keep us posted on your successes!

Thanks so much! I know with all the inspirational stories and pictures here I'll be motivated to keep it up !

Great job so far! Congrats on making the decision to change.

It sounds like you have the idea down. The biggest challenge is staying motivated. Like you said, though, this forum is FULL of motivation. I've found a few role models here who have really helped me along.

Just remember that every calorie counts and every decision affects your future, and very soon, your husband's future. Every time I'm faced with a challenge I ask myself, "Whats more important--my life with my wife and kids or eating junkfood?"

Good luck on your journey; I hope to be able to read up on your progress!:waving:

Welcome! It sounds like you got the ball rolling quite well! You also seem to have a great deal of motivation which is driving you and that is probably the most important thing you can have! Good job so far!

Thanks for the support everyone! I really think I'll lose the weight this time. I'm more determined than I've ever been! :D

Hi Kimberly,
Congratulations on making the choice for better health! Smaller portions are definitely the way to begin. Water is so important to increase since your body will dump toxins when you make changes for better health. Toxins are stored in fat cells and organs in your body. When you begin to lose weight the toxins are released and you may not feel so good. That's when many people go back to doing what makes them feel good... eating more. Most hunger feelings are really your body asking for more water. By the time you get to the thirsty feeling, you're already dehydrated. Be good to yourself and NEVER drink diet soda (studies have shown that it can increase weight in the long run since it triggers your cravings for sweets).
You will be beautiful on your wedding day regardless of your weight. Joy shows through your whole being, not just your body size.
Namaste, Dawn

So I started working out today with a dvd and was a little discouraged because I couldn't do the work out very long before I was pouring sweat and breathing all heavy! I know the more I do it the further I'll be able to go.
Also the scale is showing I weight 275.0 now instead of 272.4. :(I don't know what happened! I'm doing the same thing I've been doing!
I won't let it discourage me though! I'll start working out daily and hopefully it'll come back down.
Also, here's some before pics:

And here's a full body shot from around January, I was about the same weight as I am now:

Thanks again for the support!

Kim - I am just starting out as well so I wish you much success. You are VERY pretty and you can succeed. You just need to take this one day at a time through the great times, ok times, and the bad times.

Good luck in your journey...

Me too, we went and had a look a few days ago yay!! I found a beautiful ring I have my heart set on:p
You've done so well to lose your almost ten pounds! I've been on weight watchers for almost a week now so I'l get to find out at my weight in 2moro how much I've lost yay

Awe well I hope you get your dream ring and that your weigh in goes well!
I'm also using the weight watchers point system. I used to go to the meetings, but couldn't afford it anymore. So now I use all the books and point calculator that I got from the meetings. It's working quite well, but I've kind of hit a wall. Hopefully if I just continue as I was and exercise I'll start loosing again.

rock on.... Am seeking friends here! Let's work together! Check out my journal

best wishes to all

How you going hun? Are u going to start a diary or do you already have one? Hope all is well:) x

I keep all my points for the day written in my journal. I wish I could still do the meetings, but really all I needed them for was inspiration and I have that here!
Things are going really well! My grandmother gave me her Gazelle she didn't use anymore and I bought a bicycle so I'm really getting my exercise in now!
I decided stop weighing everyday and go back to weighing only once or twice a week so in a couple of days I'll post my new weight and hopefully it'll be less!

Yea I'm so bad at weighing myself! I do it all day everyday and I have to stop, I think I should throw my scales away haha. They arent the most reliable either!
But yea I have my meeting tonight Im so nervous! Good on you for the gazelle and the bike hun!
