First off I am sorry if I start to ramble, this is my first entry on my first day here on the forum.

So I have been gaining weight for some time... I have been stuck in the classic gain 10, lose 8, gain 10, lose 7, etc...etc..etc... Because of this it took me awhile to realize how much I had gained. I have tried several times to lose weight to varied success, but I've never been able to keep it up. For the longest time I was convinced that I just needed to get back to the gym and everything would work itself out, I used to be VERY active, but as time wore on I learned that no matter how much time I spent in the gym if my diet is crap I won't lose weight. That's really what brings me here today, I am confident that I can figure out what workouts to do but my diet needs help. My biggest motivation is my family, my wife and daughter. My wife has never made me feel like I need to lose weight for her and she is very supporting, but I still want to look good for her. My daughter is a little over a year old and the light of my life, which is why I want to get healthy.... I want to be around for as long I can. Also I want to be able to teach her how to be healthy and encourage clean living, and you can't do that through words alone.

Hi, Drew & welcome to the forum. Losing weight & keeping it off & becoming fit & healthy is not easy, but it is very much worth it. Your one-year-old is a great incentive.
There's a post in the motivation thread in this forum that you may find helpful. It's the last post on the page- https://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/motivational-sayings-and-or-affirmations.33533/page-66
Determination will get you to where you want to be Drew. Tell yourself this time is different. Cheers, Cate.
