Hi guys!
I've decided it's time to get in shape, and as I severely lack in motivation, I thought a weight loss diary would be great to help keep me going! I've read some of your diaries and everyone is doing so well, I hope I can be as inspired!
The last time I weighed myself (around 18th December), I was around 168 pounds - this was a complete shock, I hadn't weighed myself in a looong time and I thought I was around 154 pounds!! I'm 21, about 5'8 and my BMI is 25.5 at the moment which is in the Overweight zone - I need to change this!
My problems are that I'm at university at the moment, and the food I eat in halls is not the healthiest, but also, the portion sizes can be quite big, and I was always brought up to clear my plate - not the best thing to do if you want to lose weight!
There's also a shop in the building where I live, so studying in the evenings is tough, it's often cold and I'll go and buy some chocolate for comfort, and also because it serves as a study break which gets me out of my room!
I also don't own scales - I'm ordering some asap.
I always push exercise to the back of my mind when I'm studying, as that always has the higher priority. I'm learning, though, that being fit and healthy is just as important, not only for my confidence, but also for my mind!
My plan is:
- Exercise! Even if I don't feel like it most days, I know I always feel a lot better afterwards. I know I need rest days as well, but I definitely need to start moving if I want my waistline to shrink!
- Reduce my the size of my portions. I don't need to eat as much as I do. If I slow down when I eat, then hopefully I will be fuller sooner!
- Reduce snacking. Some chocolate once in a while won't hurt, but I need to start eating fruit as a snack instead of fatty foods. Not good. Most of the time I snack out of boredom, which is bad.
This is a new year for a new me! I've been eating healthy this week while I'm still at home from university. It's the exercise I need to work on! Hopefully the next week will be as successful diet wise and I can incorporate movement into my days!
Wish me luck! And happy new year to everyone!
