Here to Lose Some Weight!

I discovered this board several days ago and thought I'd join. I figured it'd help me stay motivated for this adventure!

Like most people here, I've tried unsuccessfully in the past to lose weight. I've come to realize that it won't happen overnight and what I'm doing now is a lifestyle change!

I'm a 23 year old male, 5'8", and 253 lbs right now. I started on 9/21/09 (first day of Fall!) officially and plan to eventually reach my initial goal of 170 lbs in due time. Unlike past attempts, I don't have a set date at which I need to reach this goal. After all, I'm changing myself for good so it doesn't matter if it takes 6 months or 2 years, as long as it happens! Looking forward to the road ahead! :)
 
Hi, I'm new to this site also and seeing as I have no idea what I'm doing and I saw your thread (that's what it's called right? I don't know the terms for things in forums really...) that looked kind of lonely I thought I'd reply.

Seeing as you introduced yourself, here's me: I'm a twenty year old female from NYC. I'm coming to this site after browsing the web and trying to do research because I want to lose some weight that I've gained since starting college and my lifestyle hasn't been as active as before and also to just all around get in shape. I'm a small girl at only five feet so I look very defenseless, which is something I want to change.

Whereas you plan on losing a significant amount of weight though, I only aim for about twenty to fifteen pounds and more about gaining muscle and strength. (And most likely in the near future I plan on taking some self-defense classes =) Doesn't hurt to be prepared...)

So... seeing as the goal here is to make major life changes maybe we could help each other out? Support and all that right? Well anyway, good luck with your goals!
