Here I go again

Hi all! I'm totally new to the entire weight-loss support system so maybe this is what I need to keep motivated.
My name is Michelle (you can call me that or Shell), I am 21 and currently at about 165lbs at 5'6". I fluctuate between 160 and 170. My goal weight is about 130 or 135. I lost weight last year while working out at least 3 times a week on an eliptical with interval training until I started having knee pain. I'm afraid to go to the doctor, which is really odd for me, because I don't want to end up with some crappy diagnosis like "just rest it" because that's all I've done since then!
I've tried several times in the past to lose weight but I always end up getting busy, or not caring anymore.
I'm a student at a university (my senior year), and in the process of applying to vet school. I'm super busy and don't have a lot of time but I'll be trying my best to do pilates at home when I can. I need to prove I didn't buy the ball for nothing.
I'm going to try and count calories and keep within 1400 and 1700 every day which will be hard as I cook for my non-dieting live-in boyfriend as well.
Thanks in advance for all your help and support!

Men!

I'm in a long distance relationship and dieting without my boy around is SO MUCH EASIER.

I'm in University now so I'm temporarily living alone (and sometimes with family), but when I'm back home and living with my boyfriend, it's SO HARD!

He LOVES to eat and seems to be one of those really annoying people who can just eat eat eat eat eat and EAT without gaining anything!

It's so much easier without those pesky BOYS! :p :)

Haha. Yep. They can get in the way often. He doesn't really know how to cook much at all yet, so that sucks. Plus he won't eat most veggies (very bad for my diet) and doesn't eat fruit. He's pretty much the "starch, meat, cheese" type. Which is just so frustrating! He could also lose some weight but he's not likely to join any diets with me.
