i am a sixteen year old and i weight over 300 pounds, I've been trying to lose weight for most of my life but i just never stick with anything, im hoping someone will point me in the right direction, i need to change my life around for my health and sanity

Hi Matt and welcome to our forum. I can absolutely see why you want to make changes: 300 pounds make life a lot harder and at 16 you really don't need anything to complicate life more. What, specifically, are the things you struggle with? Do you have access to healthy food? Are you a big snacker? Do you eat when you're angry, sad or bored? Do you drink a lot of sugary stuff? The more specific you can be about your problem areas the better your chances are to change things long-term.

Hi, Matt & welcome to the forum. Do you have support from your family to become a healthier weight? What does a normal "diet" comprise of? I'm glad you have decided to make changes for the better while you are so young & still growing. Do you have a plan?

Thank you @LaMaria for replying, let me answer some of those questions lol, for one i struggle with over eating! and it does depend on what mood im in, i do have access to healthy foods but i always see my self heading for the unhealthy option lol, i do drink alot of sugary stuff and i think my main problem is motivation cause i always start stuff but never finish it

Thanks for the reply @cate i do have the support from my family! were all big so i kinda wanna start something we can all do! and sadly every "plan" i do start i abandon :(

If your family is on board with making changes you're in a much better spot already. If the entire family has trouble getting into a better rhythm/finding healthier solutions it might be worth joining Weight Watchers. They're not perfect, but they offer structure and creative solutions that actually taste good. If you're doing this as a family you might even make a habit of taking turns cooking dinner or prepping lunches. Bit of friendly competition?
If you already know how to make healthy food taste good but just have trouble sticking to it, the Fat Nutritionist advises to start small by just adding healthy things to what you'd normally eat. Sugary drinks? Make sure to ALSO drink enough water. Full-fat lasagne? Add a (tasty) salad, some veggie sticks with low fat hummus or whatever veggies you like. It may sound silly but it's easier on the brain than just taking away those things it wants, thus making the transition less scary. Plus your body is getting more nutrients from day one!
Hope that helps a bit.

That's good Matt. Joining a support group is probably a good idea. There are so many minor changes you can make that will help. Just cutting down portion sizes will help, less soda, walking a bit more, drinking more water.....You can do this :)
