I am a member of one of those big name brand gyms that have the personal trainers that try to sell you sessions with methods similar to car salesmen. I have gotten a few free sessions and can definitely see the benefits of working out with a trainer, however, I have financial obligations that make me nervous to invest the money that these sessions cost. I am already spending the money for the monthly membership and I feel pressured to allow myself to be obligated to spend the extra money for a trainer because of my desire for successful weight loss and my cluelessness of resistance training, even though I know this would not financially be the best for me.
I would love to forgo the trainer, but when it comes to resistance training I haven't the slightest idea where to start. I want to make resistance training a very important part of my program. I would like to know if anyone has done the resistance training part on their own and if it was difficult. All tips, suggestions, and resources are welcomed.
