Hi to all,
Im 17 and am unfit. I dont look fat but underneath my jumper is what I call a developing beer belly!which i tend to hide.
Anyway at the moment I can only do about 6 pushups before im out of breath and energy and this time 12 months I hope to be applying for a career in the military world.
I would just like some good tips and advice to help me get out of this state and get fit and a 6 pak would be nice!!!! I also dont play any sports or have interest in them!
Thanks for the replys.

Well I'm not sure what country you're in but to join the U.S. military you have to be in better physical condition than that. Six pushups is not very many for either a man or a woman. You need to get started with an exercise program to include weights and cardio. I would start off with two days of cardio and two days of weight training a week building up to more. Would that be possible for you?

Do you eat healthy? Drink water?

Great advice above. You need to get serious and then get going. You are going to be in intense situations and you are going to need to be strong in heart and body.

Get going :) Here are 5 tips to get you started...

1) Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Each meal should be 2-3 hours apart. Each meal should contain one protein and one carb. The first meal should be eaten within an hour after waking.

2) Drink lots of water :)

3) Rest properly. This means taking at least 24-48 hours between strength training the same muscles, and it also means getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Lastly, it means taking 1-2 days off from exercising per week.

4) Cardio. This should be done at different intensity levels and different session lengths. Consider doing a low intensity/long session, a high intensity/short session and a few medium intensity/medium length sessions.

5) Strength Training. Strength train each muscle 1-3 times per week. You should lift a proper weight and perform the proper amount of sets/reps for your strength training method. If you need more guidance or exercise ideas you can head over

All of the above things combined will result in fat loss.

John,

I am in the US Marine Corps and I can tell you that you do not need to worry about getting in super shape before you leave for boot camp. They will take care of that for you but in order to make your life a little easier while you are there you should get in a little bit better shape. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
