You need to eat less calories than your body needs. The way to do that is to begin writing down what you eat every day and find out the calories for EVERYTHING that you eat. The reason for writing this down is to become aware of how much and what you are eating. Do this everyday forward. Report back what the calories are for a typical day.

Why is being overweight a problem for you?

1st off and most importantly my health and i am staring to have small health problems that i can fix if i loose weight, but if i dont take care of it my weight they are going to turn in to major problems. second its also for getting girls. on a nother note about this well also its not how much i eat, and i say this because people who is fit and what ever can eat 3-4 times more then me at one meal. its that i eat one time a day and its any were from 5pm- like 9 or 10pm the meal of the day + i dont eat a lot of food but its bad food like pizza, fastfood, things that are hi in carbs & calories because i cant cook so i always buy food or some times my grandmother cooks food and its semi healthy/home made. so starting to day when i eat i am going to wright down what i eat and the time and im going to do this and im a post it on here and up date every day on here.

HAHAHA, I'm sorry, but is that a serious question? I mean, really?

Why is being overweight a problem? I don't know, why does a broken leg make it hard to climb stairs or why does having untreatable cancer make you sad?

hey chefchitown,

Although it may sound funny and it does, I am interested in people. I like to know more about the whole person when talking about weight loss. I think there are a lot of things in the whole person's greater life that makes achieving weight loss possible.

I hope that makes sense to you.

Get a free account from and log your food in there. Set up your profile information - stuff like weight, age, how generally active you are... You can also log all your exercise... It will help you work out how many calories you are eating and how many calories you are burning through activity.

It will be obvious whether you are eating at a rate that would deserve weight loss... The great thing about fitday is that it also tells you how many nutrients are in the food that you eat.

I think that it will be no surprise to you that you really have to cut down on that fast food - because it tends to not be the healthiest way to eat.

If you study up the section on nutrition you will learn how much protein etc you should be aiming for. That way - as you improve the calibre of food that you eat - you can really hone things so that you can become really healthy.

Good luck.

on a nother note about this well also its not how much i eat,
It is absolutely and 100% about how much you eat. :)

I second Omega's advice to register for a free account at a site where you can log your food and see what you're eating. Bottom line is that you gain weight by eating more than you burn. You lose weight by burning more than you eat.

Also, just a request .. but could you maybe look into some punctuation and paragraph breaks in your posts? It's really hard to follow what you're saying when it's all run together like that. :) Thanks.

Yes, that makes sense, but your question doesn't. Isn't it fairly obvious as to why being overweight would be a problem? Not only are there encyclopedias full of medical complications that arise from obesity, but there are just as many social, societal, emotional and mental complications that arise as well. And, us fat people know what all of those are already.

Personally, I just found that question to be a little hilarious in a sense.
