Help with my Abs ( Pictures )

Is there any exercises I should be doing to flatten out my abs ? They of just a line of abs down middle, nothing at sides. Looks pretty bad.

How many nights a week should you excercise your abs ?

Also, I was wondering about these core muscles people talk about, any info on those ?

i would guess just loose fat and you will have a nice midsection? its hard to see on those pics if there is much fat, you look pretty skinny, so i dont know :p and side of the abs is obliquest.. do you just focus on the rectus abdomimus? (sp?) or do you do oblique work too?

and the core is the lower back, obliquest and abs.. stabilization .. its importaint to have those under control ;)

I could maybe loose a little bit more bodyfat, but i have problems with my knee and can't do much cardio. I also don't want to loose weight or muscle size.

I do mostly crunches. What excercises are they for your oblique things. And for core muscles.

you arent going to get ripped if you have fat. I dont mean to sound harsh, but unless you find some way to do cardio, you are probably going to have to wait.
you could start by cleaning up your diet.

I think you could get ripped w/o doing cardio, just with a very strict diet. But remember you can still swim, since that's easy on the knees.

Clean up your diet, then get in the pool.

I stay lean year round with only nutrition. If you see my pic, that is me year round. However, if I want to look "magazine" cut, I have to include cardio into my routine personally.

There are no magic exercises that are going to get you cut in the weight room, that will somehow, flatten your stomach. The fat on your belly is subcutaneous, which means it is directly under the skin. You can build abs until you are blue in the face, but that fat is still going to be located just under the skin and over the muscle.

Sorry, but that is the way it is!

If you really want to get lean and ripped, you have to make the decision to cut fat and you might sacrifice some muscle along the way. That is why you hear the terms "cutting" and "bulking." Many people will not worry about gaining muscle for a period with a primary concern of getting lean. Or, at other times, they might not concern themselves that much with bodyfat because they are concerned with adding muscle to their bodies currently.

If I were you, I would cut until you are at a level of leanness that you are happy with, and than build from there with a clean caloric surplus.

And by the way, find ways to work around a bad knee. Do low-impact exercises such as a bike or elliptical trainer.

Good luck.

Well said! The visibility of your abs is directly proportionate to your body fat %.

CLEAN UP YOUR DIET!

Also, I'm not sure what exactly is going on with your knee(s), however, you should be able to also walk on the treadmill. Raising the incline will allow you to increase the intensity without the impact that increasing speed has on your joints.

As for core training ...this is important in any program, regardless of the goal for a six pack. Your core includes the muscles of your abdomen, butt, hips, and lower back. These are the muscles that support and stablilize your body in any other activity you do.

This is a pretty good book to have if you're just beginning to focus on those areas ....

Good luck with those abs!
