Hi,

I am new to this forum, and hopefully it will help me. First off let me introduce myself, my name is Jeff and I am considered to be overweight in reference to the BMI scale. The stats are as follows...

Age : 32
Height : 5'7
Weight : 280
Waist Line : 46

Now, looking at these stats depress me alot. I was so depressed to the point of starving myself which I did for 10 days straight. I lived off nothing but ice and water. Thorough research over the Internet shows starving does shed the weight, however during a long period of time increased pain will occur and hunger strikes twice as hard. I did lose over the period of 10 days 5 lbs. I am at a loss and do not know what to do. People say to eat this and that, and exercise regularly. I walked for 2 weeks straight 2 miles a day and burned about 736 calories a day and still the weight went no where. The only time the weight ever seems to go off me is when I starve. I need help, so anything from anyone for any kind of advise would be useful. I would see a dietitian, however I do not have the money to go make the appt. I have a goal, I know where I want to be. Is there a menu I can work off of to get to the weight I need to be at? Thank you all again for your help.

I just do not want to take extreme measures to lose weight.

Hi !! Ok, so DON'T STARVE yourself, I am no expert, but from what I have read, your body goes into panic, and actually grabs onto the fat to survive, o not a good idea.

I have lost about 14 pounds since march, I would definitely recommend doing this slowly, I think your goal is a bit too much for the time frame, as you are likely to put it on plus more if you do it in a short period of time

How many caloires a day roughly do you eat? Try writing a whole days calorie intake, then then advice I have read (and it's worked) is to decrease this by 500 calories, and this should get you on your way

Also obviously exercise is important - Power walking, light weight training, cycling, jogging, anything active that you enjoy.

Cat xx
