Help with HIIT

Am I doing HIIT right?

I go swimming when i do HIIT, i do 1 minuet of all out swimming then i do one minuet of just normal swimming then i repeat this for 20 min. is that right?

I just want to say, and I don't mean to discourage you, any exercise is good, but to the best of my understanding swimming tends to tone you up rather than reduce fat. I believe it has something to do with being in water. Perhaps try some Sprint/Walk, Sprint/Jog intervals or something like that? I use that as a regular part of my workout routine. Oh, and don't stop swimming. Toning is good stuff. In fact, I think it's more worthy of your efforts than fat loss (unless you're significantly overweight). There's my two cents, heh heh.

Well, it seems like for anything to do with fitness, you can basically use your common sense to figure out what to do. Does swimming all out seem like it gives you a good cardio workout. It sure does, and applying the HIIT technique in this area seems like it should work. The only real way to test this is to stick to it and see what the results are like.
