Hey everyone! I have managed to get myself into a really crappy situation.

I have been feeling under the weather for a good two days now. It feels somewhat like food poisoning: an upset stomach, stomach pains and the like.

I have been feeling really guilty as a result. I worked out for half an hour yesterday (I usually work out for an hour everyday) and I was feeling so sick today that I did not work out at all. I know I can't gain back all my weight, but I'm starting to feel sad when thinking about it.

Any suggestions?

with stomach pains, i doubt youre over eating.. just take it easy a couple days,, drink pretty of fluids ( low cal) and when you feel better you can get back on your exersize regime.. not a DR. by a long shot , but i do feel that if you push yourself when youre ill, you can do more dmg...i would go to a DR if you dont start feeling better soon.. better safe than sorry...

It's ok to take a break once in a while, and actually recommended by many! Especially if you are feeling under the weather. Your body needs its energy to fight your sickness. When you start to feel better, don't push yourself too hard or it may take longer to recover. Start with a nice easy walk or something.

hey guys! thanks for the advice, i'm feeling MUCH better today and managed to complete a hour kickboxing workout:D it's hard when you feel like you're on the right path, but something hinders your progress

Hello there,

Good on you with your workout. I guess you are feeling better. As has been said, it's good to rest when you're not feeling well or you may risk ending up worse than before. I can testify to that. I wouldn't allow myself to totally recover from the flu and I just kept returning to the gym (I'd feel great too because I'd stuck to my goals and the endorphins would have kicked in like crazy), but then I'd find that the flu would return and it got so bad that I ended up being ill for nearly a month (and I obviously couldn't go the gym), which was sad considering all I needed was a few more days extra rest initially.

So I'm glad you're feeling better, but I still think you should take it easy on yourself (I certainly would after my experience). Your body needs time to get used to all the exercise, and illness is usually one of the ways through which your body tries to tell you that. I hope you make a full recovery and get back to your workouts. Cheerio!
