Twice a week i am going to the gym

I want to know how to use the equipment for weight loss

I have got 2 big problems with my body my belly!!!!!!! thanks brats and them cream cakes lol

And my arms

I also swim after

I went gym today and did 20 minutes on the treadmill , 10 on stepper , 10 on bike and 10 on rower and 10 cross skier and a few minutes on weights

I do not really want to build muscle at this time

The exercises you are doing seem like they would be effective, but you probably need to go more than twice a week. Of course, the more you go, the healthier you get!

I can only go twice a week because thats the onl;y time i get away from my kids to go !!!!!!!!!!!!

During the days that i do not go gym i have got a stepper at home and i am going to be doing that for about twenty minutes

I hope it will work i am getting married in april and i need to lose this weight haven't gave myself a lot of time lol

You can do a lot more time lifting weight and it will help you lose fat. To gain muscle is a lot like trying to lose weight, it doesn't happen in a short time and it will take a while for you to notice. Even if you did manage to build muscle noticeably it would help in your weight loss attempt. I forget what the rational is but just be having some muscle you burn more Cal a day. But yeah, you should really incorporate more weight lifting into your routine if you want to lose weight fast. . .

I'd just hate to see you wasting money on a membership when you could easily go outside and run, and bike, and you have a stepper at home so the only thing you are really paying for is to be able to do the rower...

Thats my 2 cents anyway.

I was curious why you dont want to "build muscle at this time". Muscle is what makes us look toned and not flabby. All those celebrities that look so great are very toned. You dont get bulky easily and doing weight really does step up the fat loss. I agree with basicloser, I'd try to get in 30 to 45 min with the weights and then the rest on the cardio equipment. I know you dont believe us, but you'll find the people who are successful at weight loss or at being slim always do weights.

The reason i don't go for a run is because i live in the uk and its winter miserable weather lol

I was asked by the personal trainer what i wanted to do lose weight or tone up i said both he said its best to start with weight loss i tried to ask him then he disappered on me Charming hey !!!!!!!lol

It sounds like you the trainer isn't all that great and is confirmed seeing as he disappeared on you. Perhaps he fails to understand that you can tone while losing weight ... or maybe he is confusing toning with trying to gain massive muscles which is harder if you are trying to lose weight at the same time. I agree that 30-45 minutes on weights would be a good amount of time as long as you are doing weights in that time and not standing around talking (I'm not accusing you, I just used to see it so often people saying they were working out for 2 hours when they did an hour and 45 minutes of talking and 10 minutes of laying on the bench press looking up at the weight. . .

I'm not saying you need to superset (have no breaks in between reps) but I think a break is 30 seconds to a minute? It's been a while since I've looked it up but when I used to go to the gym I tried to keep it minimum (walk to the water fountain and back to what I was doing)...I didn't always get a drink though ^_^

Good luck.

I don't tend to take breaks except to walk to one machine to the other and to fill my water bottle up i was told how to use the weights probley either.

Some man did say to me you do 12 reps then have a half a minute break then another 12 reps then a break again and then another 12 reps ?

But i am still none the wiser lol
