Help needed - Weight fluctuation...

Hello everyone,

I'm new here so I'll give you a little background knowledge about me before I post my issue...

Basically at my heaviest I weight an unhealthy 22 stone+, that's 308+ lbs for those that work differently.

I now weight around 14 stone, having lost just over 5 stone of that total weight loss in the past 2 years.

My issue is this:

On Monday afternoon I went for a 10.34 mile run. I came back, weighed myself and I was 14 stone dead (196lbs). That evening I then went and played football (soccer) for 1 hour.

Tuesday I took part in my routine 1 hour Kick Aerobics class which is very intensive.

Today I weighed myself, yes I had eaten earlier (2 pitta breads with salad and tuna plus some soup and I weighed 14 stone 9lbs!!! 9lbs greater than Monday even taking into consideration the amount of exercise I had done.

Now, I generally eat what I like within reason. By that I mean I don't put too much pressure on what goes in my body instead I compensate with how much exercise I do. Yes I have eaten a little bit more the last day or so because of the amount of exercise I have done however 9lbs more?!!!

I'm lucky enough to enjoy eating healthy food such as salad and vegetables and I rarely eat fast food. The only bread I eat are wholemeal pittas and I only drink alcohol once a week on a saturday night. I eat cheese once a week sometimes a little more however pasta is my achiles heel.

It's so depressing and demotivating. Can I really have put on 9lbs in not much over 48 hours? What is going on in my body?

Thanks.

Weighing yourself at different times of day, wearing different clothes, after having eaten and/or drunk something is totally and completely meaningless.

When you eat food - do you think that food floats on a cushion of air in your stomach and doesn't count on the scale? :) Do you think the water you drink floats on a cushion of air in your stomach and doesn't count on the scale? :) 20 oz of water (or other liquid) weighs about 1.5 lbs. 2 pitas weigh about 1/2 an lb. Etc.

What about the clothing you wear? You know a pair of jeans can weigh 4lbs or more, right?

Unless you weigh at the same time in the same location wearing the same clothes and on an empty stomach ... then the results you get are totally useless.

one thanksgiving we all weighed in at the door. Winner was the one who posted the largest gain. I won with a 13lbs gain.

Now the serious question. what exactly is this a measure of? well nothing really. Drink a liter of water and you just gained 2.2 lbs. a good meal, a little sodium and a good amount of water retention and it's very easy to show a 9lbs swing in 48 hours. I managed a 13lbs swing in 2 hours after all. I wouldn't orry about it in the least. fluctuation is normal.

OMG I so would not want to do that. Id rather go to a China Buffet by my lonesome for Thanksgiving then weigh in before and after I eat in front of people. That is pretty funny though. I would defintely be more concious of how much Im eating then...

Hahah. Ok, that's really funny. It sounds like something my ex's family would do.

But good god, Jynus. 13 lbs? That's like a whole turkey. :D
