help! My chest is pathetic how often should i work it out?

my chest needs alot of work......how often should i work it out a week ??
what excercises should i do? (keep in mind i only got dumbells at home and i dont have equipment to bench press at home ,plus i dont have money for the gym) whats the best work outs for me and how much times a week? should i use push ups and how often?

Do push ups. You will need to do a good amount of volume. The easy way is to do them every half hour or every hour. When you get stronger, put your feet up on a chair and do decline pushups. Next try push ups between two chairs for greater range of motion. Then try putting on a backpack with sand in it and do then that way.

If you repeat push ups many times, your strength will not increase for a long time. But your endurance will certainly improve.

If you want to increase your strength and muscle you should push up very heavy weight, so that you were able to push up it only 6 times.

I used to have the exact same issue. When I first started - I had NO chest! I do push ups, pull ups and dips - and I do have a chest now. It was the push ups that got me started. They might not get you huge, but they'll get you started and looking sharp.

Good luck.

Check out the following book, "Fitness Weight Training" by Baechle. I've read and followed about 8 different fitness books over the course of 6 yrs, and found this one to be the best! You don't want to work on your chest and neglect all your other body parts, then you'll really look silly. Good Luck!

NO, you can and WILL get stronger by doing the push-up method I suggested. I have a very nice chest you can see through a thick sweater and I NEVER bench press. Push-ups and dips and shoulder presses will harden you up quick style. THEN, if you want to keep going and hit the bench press with heavy weight you could, but this is pointless in my opinion. Bench press is not a very good exercise for anything but the ken and barbie workouts everyone else is doing.
