Crack, Cocaine, Heroin, Jesus, Food.......these are all addictions that face our society today......

My Addiction......Soda.....Its Like My Crack......I work at a dry cleaners where it is hot all day....my boss buys me a 32 Ounce cup that I can refill at the resturant next store....I drink about 5 or 6 of those a day...Ive always had a problem with drinking soda....they have Pink Lemonade the only non soda product available...and I drink those on occassion, Although I know that too isnt the best thing for me....I try to drink water...but If I dont have a pepsi before noon....I get a pounding headache that fades away and leaves be with a bitter attitude....Im angry to the point of throwing things around I become violent and unstable....kinda like an alcoholic. I dont know how to say no....I hate having the headaches and the moody feelings and the only thing I know to do is drink more soda....

Does anyone have advice on how I can drink less soda and not feel as sick??

I have not experienced addiction to caffeine myself as in dependency, although I have at times drank a couple 12 packs of mountain dew a day plus coffees and nicotine... But I have had addictions to other things. My best advice to you is, either stop the caffeine completely for a week or two, or drink a low calorie source of caffeine like black coffee. This is a weight loss site, and I can promise you that it will be harder than hell to lose weight drinking that much sugared drink every day.

The only way to beat the caffeine addiction is to just say stop drinking it... you'll have a headache for a day or so - but if you keep drinking water, the headache subsides....

I never quite cares for soda myself, I hate the bubbles, but I probably had anywhere from a 10 to a 15 cup of really strong coffee habit... Advil Liquid caps was my friend for about 1 day or so but water really helped a bunch...

Sounds horrible!! I have a friend who used to drink like 2 liters of Dr. Pepper a DAY! I just can't imagine that....... She finally just STOPPED cold turkey one day. She had a huge pounding headache (like you would) and then gradually, as the week went on, she felt better.

Good luck! I know it's easier said than done!!

I had withdrawal headaches when I stopped drinking soda, but they subside completely in about a week. That is a fast recovery period, all things considered.

It is up to you. You know the amount of soda you are drinking is harmful to your health. Do you want to quit? Can you tough out the pain for one week? Aspirin or Tylenol will help some, but mostly you just have to decide that a week of withdrawal is worth the reward. You can do it, if you want it bad enough.

Friday afternoon, or on the last day before your break, go to the supermarket and buy yourself some flavored seltser water. Lots of them so you have them on hand when the urge hits you to have a drink.

throw out your tonic so your not tepmted. Suffer thrugh the week-end and force yourself NOT to stop in the seven-eleven and get a big gulp.

Get lots of sleep. The long you stay away from the stuff the more your acomplishment. When you get back to work explain to your boss what you have done. And ask for his support and not to buy you any soda. He/she will understand and want to help. When you go over to the resturant ask them for soda water also, maybe with a twist of lemon or lime.

You will be amazed how much people will want to help if you show a little effort. As the days go by and your hard work in avoding the stuff continues, People will ask you for updates on your progress. Your not going to want to let them down.

Of course none of this is easy and takes the deepest commitment on our part to show success. but with the propper frame of mind you can move mountians.

Good luck.

I remember the first month I stopped drinking soda. I had random headaches everyday and I knew it had somthing to do with not getting caffine. Anyway I just stuck through them and sure enough they went away.
