Hi folks, I am new here. I have been on a quest to improve my overall fitness, while losing about 20 pounds, in an effort to get rid of the bodily self-hatred I have experienced since my teenage years. I am a female in my late twenties, 5'3" and between 150 and 160 pounds (have not weighed recently) on a small frame.
From January until the end of April I worked out with a great personal trainer on a weight-training program, combined with some crossfit-type exercises to add cardio. I had three weekly work outs, and I also abided by a nutritional plan which kept my calories at an appropriate level, and kept a balance of nutrients and food types.
I obtained decent results, shedding several inches, some pounds, and feeling positive about adding fitness to my life -- HOWEVER, I never - AT ANY STAGE - enjoyed it. I dreaded going, I hated turning down lunch outings with co-workers (usually to places without healthy options), and I found the results too slow-trickling to motivate me.
Now that I have used up my sessions and do not have the finances to continue at this time, I have literally done NOTHING since they ended. No working out, no eating right, etc. I really thought that by now I would have ingrained some healthy habits, and that it would have been easier to continue on that path.
That was a long rant to really get to the point -- how did you find what works for you? How did you learn to LOVE (or at least commit to) exercise?
I really want to obtain my goals, but the immense dread and boredom I associate with exercise and healthy eating are holding me back. I know this is mind over matter, but there must be some tips on how to "fall in love" with an active lifestyle -- I know there are others out there like me!
I am desperate to find a way to add fitness into my life in a way that I can enjoy, not dread finding time for in my otherwise busy life.
