hey guys,

I have been doing alot of areobic exercise and muscle strengthening, and have noticed significant measurement changes in my waist and hip area......what would be the best way to aid in getting rid of upper body, back and arm flabbiness??? Im willing to give alot of things a go. I have been jogging with .5kg weights to help tone and burn more calories, but im sure there is more to it all than that. Any advice would be appreciated :)

There's a sticky thread in the exercise area titled "The Conceptual Side of Weight Lifting". Read it and you'll get a LOT of information. It should be required reading on this site. :)

When you decide to lose weight, exercise is a great weight to increase your metabolism. That means, that when you are not exercising, your body will burn more calories at rest.

The first think to do though, is to get your eating program within a weight control range. That means you need to eat less than your body current needs in calories so that the fat in your body gets used as a fuel rather than adding more fuel by eating. Does that make sense?

Tell us more about your weight, height, history of being fat, what are frustrations. It is all very helpful to know the details.

Um .. what?

Which means that after you have increased your lean body mass as a result of the exercise, the basal metabolic rate will increase. That means that when you are resting, you will be burning more calories.

resistance training

what upper body exercises do you currently do? The two things that will help reduce your upper body fat will be your diet (losing body fat) and your resistance training (building muscle tissue to replace the fat) There are a ton of upper body exercises that you can do, using calisthenics or weight training.

And which exercise increases lean body mass? Hint, it's not cardio.

An effect that is minimal at best, assuming that you're doing the correct types of exercises and eating the right way to actually increase lean body mass. Hint - most people who are losing weight cannot increase lean body mass - you can't make something from nothing.

Ok well,
Currently am 110kgs and stuck at this weight ..... fluctuating around it for the last week. i am 183cm's tall. I am overall fairly well balanced in my appearance i look like i have a solid build but im lumpy if you know what i mean. I have been over 100 kgs since before my first child, 9 yrs ago and have always used the excuse ive had kids im fine to look like this.
i honestly can not remeber weighing under 100kgs for a loooong time, i know i have lied about it but i cant remember being there.
I have always been an emotional eater, which I now have under control, and have substituted water when i am stressed out.
My daily diet consists of cereal for breakfast...Weetbix and a banana with water, apples for snacks, lunch cheese and lettuce sandwich and water or poached eggs, and dinner is a healthy choice meal or the like. I keep my calories between 1500 - 1800 a day and drink alot of water. upwards of 2 litres a day.
As i have mentioned, exercise, is mainly the wii fit for and hour a night, which the routines i have get me in a very sweaty state and im buggered once i finnish and sit down.

My day to day activities consist of chasing the 2 kids, running a concrete pumping business from home, weekly shopping, and thats about it. any advice to help me get this moving better would be great i really want to push myself to lose the weight and keep it off........ ALL FOR ME thanks

P.S Sorry for the kg's and cm's and litres and that, but it is what we use in Australia, and the lbs thing confuses me entirely lol
