HELP -Building the Deloid w/o a bulky Supraspinatus?

I have been working on my arms and shoulders and have noticed that my supraspinatus is becoming more define (I think this looks rather manly on women and it makes my neck and head look really small).

Is there any way to keep this from happening?

not really, if you stop doing any isolation like (front lateral raises) will help. otherwise you would need to increase your BF%, which is not recommended by me.

That muscle right at the base of your neck.

I looked on about 50 websites to try to figure out what it was called and the only one that had it labeled said it was the superspinatus, so i guess I may be wrong aboutthe name

RedT, the reason I asked is because that muscle that you're speaking of is situated in the rotator cuff and is covered by the deltoids.

yeah, sounds like you're talking about trapezius muscles...the two hunks of meat on either side of the base of your neck.

front raises work the traps a little. wide grip standing rows also hit them, as do shrugs (obviously), and deadlifts.

also, it's very easy to let traps take up a lot of the load on lateral raises. you want to rotate the pinky up so it's above your thumb at the top of a lateral raise, and the 'top' of the movement shouldn't go much above your shoulders, as beyond that is when the traps totally take over. going to heavy on lateral raises will pull in the traps. lower weight, and focus on the shoulder joint as being a hinge...and don't let the shoulder raise up at all.
