Help/advice needed

Ok so 1st of all hi guys,I am currently an 18st fb and I am 40 soon & I have decided to shift some timber n tone up a bit. I want to shift 3st all together I am 6ft so 15st would be on I guess. So I have joined the gym & have cut out carbs (well as best I can) I am eating loads of chicken,tuna salad ect in tortilla wraps. I have some protein shakes I am going to start taking shortly. So what I am asking Is am I doing all of the above correctly food wise?? I am doing like 40 mins cardio then some weights for 30 mins or so. Like I say I am new to all this so any advice will be taken on board.

if you cut out carbs too much, you will find you are lacking energy. Carbs are your quick energy stores for doing things like exercise. If your diet was heavy on carbs, than sure, cut some out, but not too much ... they are necessary. Just cut your calories ... fat burning is simple ... burn more calories than you consume and you will come out a winner. If you are adding protein shakes, though, you will be probably be getting a lot of those carbs back in anyway
