Hi everyone! I am a bit shy, so please bear with me. I will call myself Zynische(German for Cynical). Hmmm, where do I begin? heh

Well, I have come here because I need motivation to lose weight. I currently weigh 211 and I an 5 feet 5 inches tall. So, I am probably considered to be obese. In high school, I ran cross country and I weighed a lot less.

Now, I have a mental disorder called schizoaffective disorder (bipolar and schizophrenia together). This mental disorder causes me to have no motivation and oftentimes little to no energy. My medicines don't seem to help me out the way they should. My medicines have also caused me to gain weight, but right now, my weight is stable. It has been at 211lbs for a while now. I am told that my cholesterole is high.

I am lost. I don't know where to begin, how to motivate myself. This place is my last ditch try at trying to lose weight. I will see if maybe this forum can motivate me :)

In my spare time, I like to read, learn new languages, go horseback riding, math, physics, and listen to music. I also love nature.
 
Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your project.

I'm sorry to hear of your mental disorder. I know very little about such things.

It is possible that if you can once get your project on a roll of success - the success will motivate you to keeping it up.

It is difficult that you have little energy. I had little energy when I started my project because I was so very big. I found walking was a form of exercise that I could do - and it was very effective for me. I also found that the repetitive nature of walking gave me time to think and seemed to make me more tranquil. Maybe walking would be a good form of exercise for you too.

Lots of people find challenges help them to stay on track - helping with motivation.

Hi Omega! Thank you for the welcoming :) I am thinking about beginning to walk. I checked out the challenge and I think it looks really good. I will have to buy myself a scale :) This sounds like exactly what I need to motivate myself.
 
I know that challenges have helped me a lot over the years. I don't know whether I would have ever stuck with a project long enough to lose the weight if I hadnt had challenges like this to join. Its great that you have decided to join us.

Buying a scale is definitely a good idea.
