Hello! My name is Kyle and I'm a Junior in High School as of right now! I've been overweight since I was around eleven or twelve when I stopped playing sports and played a lot more video games. It's been a rough childhood, and I've tried multiple times to start losing weight, but I never had a motivation until recently. I weight around 245lbs and I'm 6ft 1in and my set goal is to reach a healthy weight for my age and height, which according to the BMI is around 150-170lbs. It's March now and I hope to reach my set goal by the start of my senior year which is in September, but according to all the websites out there losing around 70-80lbs in 7 months is almost impossible. I'm not a heavy eater(S at all, I just don't make the right choices of what I eat(Mainly what my parents provided me with. I love them to death, but they weren't the smartest parents when growing up). However I'm seventeen now and I set my foot down in the household and have put myself in charge of what enters this house and what doesn't. :)

I would not worry about what websites say is and isnt possible to do in seven months...

What I would say is that it makes sense to start now and eat healthily and exercise and lose what you can in a healthy manner.

You will get lots of direction regarding a healthy way of going about these things from the exercise and nutrition sections of this forum. You will also get advice from that from people here that are doing or have done the same things... Friends that you will make that will act as a support network to try to help you stay on track when you waver as we all do...

Challenges are a great way of making friends. San is kicking off a new challenge this weekend and it will be a fantastic way of making friends and getting advice... There will be tasks for eating healthily and exercising and should be a lot of fun. The link is in my signature... Joining it may help you towards tightening things up so that you get pretty good results by September.

For the record - a good rate of weight loss in a healthy manner tends to be about 1% per week. Obviously this diminishes as our weight reduces - we are not going to disappear in 100 weeks (i.e. 2 years)... :)

You might not be at your goal weight by September - but you could make a very noticeable difference and have done it in a healthy way and learnt new habits to keep you being healthy into the future.
