I joined this site because I am currently too overweight to join the military. I was told that I must lose roughly 40 pounds before I can even begin the process of signing up. I know very little about the kind of diet and exercise plan necessary to lose that kind of weight. I weigh about 230lbs right now, the goal for me is 190lbs. I only have a couple of months to do this, though. I don't know if I am just setting myself up for failure by trying to do this so quickly, but I have no choice. So here I am at square one. Nice to meet you.

This is a great site for getting plenty of helpful information that will aid you in losing weight. Make sure that you eat a "clean" diet. A clean diet is one that is more natural and not loaded with processed foods and excess sugars. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and lean meats.

Instead of eating only 3 meals a day, try to shoot for 4 to 6 small meals every day. This will help speed up your metabolism. Start out doing cardio exercises and eventually add strength training to your workout regiment. Try to stay away from all of those weight loss drugs that are out their because most of them don't work anyway.

Use getting in the military as motivation! This will help you keep going when the time gets tough and you want to give up.

Good luck!
