Hello my names Pokey, I'm from the UK & well, i've decided to have a good go at weight loss. I've tried beforehand & have generally stuck to it pretty well, until i just seem to suddenly reach a point & say **** it, then proceed to the nearest kebab shop.

So, about me i guess, I'm male, 20 years old from the UK. i'm uhh, ehh... 22 stone *Runs & hides* Though i am 6"5 so it doesn't look to bad. I was never a large kid though, back when i was about 7 i used to go to the shop for my parants (Getting bread milk & all the usual stuff) & i used to be a bit of a ponse, asking to keep the change ever constantly & buying kitkats with the spoils :p i had a metabolism like a rocket though. then of course i found out that my local bakery did 10p cakes. So i could like get 3 of them for everyday i had to go to the shop. (Curse that damn bakery >_<) Obviously going by a rate of like 8 cakes a week (eh, i was 7, bit dozy in that respect i didn't know what calories were) Which innevitably overpowered my metabolism (& threw it over a bridge) which innevitably led to me now.

Why i'm doing it - well to be honest it's never bothered me, of course i've had the odd insult here or there but nothing that couldn't be resolved or ignored. The health benefits arn't much of a bother to me either, i've always gone by the logic that even the healthiest of people can get sick & the most unhealthy people can go through life without a shread of illness. I'm certainly not doing it to appeal to the opposite sex. so i'm really just doing it, because i want to. (Which is as good a reason as any i s'pose... However having a better incentive would be nice)

I'm not sure what diet i'll go for but probably something revovling around keeping a diary, but somethings really i do question. I'm used to be fond of Doner Kebabs until i read which put me right off, but i'd prefferably still like to have the odd Chicken (Shish) Kebab, though most places i've checked out seem to have these down as unbelievably healthy, like very few calories exceptionally good for you & little fat. i really can't swallow that whole (Pun whole-heartedly intended) because the local places near me seem no-where near that mark. Nevertheless i'll work something out.

Thanks for reading that little intro, i hope to stay here more, chances are if i ever stop posting here i'd have failed :( & i certainly don't want that.

Welcome and good luck! Reading the stickied threads helps a ton. Also, starting a diary is a good idea and it looks like you already plan on doing so. If you're into counting calories, or can definitely be helpful. I'm sure you'll find tons of support around here as everyone seems to hand plenty out. Congrats on starting your weight loss journey!
