First of all, let me say that I'm a 24 year old male and on Tuesday the 5th I weighed in at 235lbs. I am not happy with the way I look and I use to have an absolutely horrible diet. I had fast food at least 3-4 times a week and drank pop/snacks religously when I was bored at home. My entire life I've stayed up until 1-2am (sometimes later) in the morning and I always ate out of boredom while watching TV/internet but just found out that it's extremely bad to eat before you sleep. I decided to make a lifestyle change and try to lose weight and joined a free local weight loss program called the pound plunge.
Now, my problem is I don't like any vegetables!! Since I was a child/teenager I just could never aquire a taste for them. This is probably part of the reason for my horrible diet! I've searched and found some other people like me who are trying to lose weight but i'm trying to get a variety of foods I can eat while I am dieting. Just to be clear though, I have tried a TON of vegetables as my Aunt is a vegetarian and is always preparing some kind of vegetable dish in a different way for me to try. I just don't find them appealing and some I even gag at the taste! Here is a list of foods that I have been eating and doing really well with.
Ground Turkey
Low Calorie Soup
Egg Beaters
Low Calorie Oatmeal
Banana's
Apple's
Skinless Chicken
Fish
Smart Ones - Turkey, Chicken Fettuccini, English Muffin (Canadian Bacon)
Lean Cuisine Meals
Low Fat/Low Calorie Turkey
93% Diet Lean Hamburger Meat
I've cut out all the fast food and junk food/pop and have been drinking about 4 bottles of water daily. I exercise 30 minutes a day and have been walking a lot more. I also am not eating anything past 9pm (As I generally goto bed at 1 or 2). I've been calorie counting as well and doing in between 1200-1500 calories a day with the food mentioned above.
I would really like to add some different foods and low calorie meals/snacks but they are hard to find. Does anybody have any suggestions for somebody who can't stand vegetables? Also, Can some of the people who have previously lost weight tell me if I'm doing the right thing so far? I really appreciate any advice/pointers I get and thank you for reading!
