Hi everyone,

Just wanted to drop couple of lines. At the beginning of last year I was 20 pounds more than my ideal weight. I have lost them all by January 2012. It was a slow process, but I did not want to diet. All I did was sticking to healthy eating as much as possible. Of course, it's easier said than done! I came here to stay motivated to maintain the weight that I achieved, to motivate others (not that I am an expert on losing weight, but I am willing to share my experience and tricks:)), and to make friends!!!

That's lovely !!!!!!! So happy for you.. I'm waiting for the day when I can say: "I have lost some pounds".

Would love to hear your tricks.. Plz do share.. Thx..!

Thank you Lotus2012,

Well, it was all baby weight. Before I did not realize how caring for a newborn could be so physically demanding! Especially if a newborn is really fussy! Anyways, it worked to my advantage because I lost my baby fat without dieting or working out at the gym.

As for tricks, you probably have heard of some of them. I made sure, for example, that there is no junk food at home: no sweets, no chips, no baked goods. Instead I had healthy alternatives, such as raw nuts and dried fruits. I tried not to miss meals, especially my breakfast, which consists of a bowl of oatmeal and orange juice. I have juice only for breakfast with my oatmeal. At any other time of the day I drink water (lots of water).

If I crave one of my favorite treats really badly (for example bueno chocolate bar), I would go to the grocery store and buy only one chocolate bar. I would do that no more than once a week. I also tried to eat healthy as much as possible: having yeast free rye bread instead of white bread, eating at least an apple a day, eating a simple salad daily with one of my meals).

Another trick that I love is to drink a glass of water before any meal – then I feel full sooner. I also watched my portions and I used to put aside 1/3 of my regular portion. If half an hour later I still feel hungry, then I would eat that third, but most of the time I never came back to it. Now I am already used to the smaller portions.

Feel free to also share what works for you!

Loved reading your tips.. specially the last paragraph.. abt the water.

Guess what?! I am actually drinking a glass of water while I am typing this :)

I will try it tonight, before I have my dinner... will have a glass of water. Thx so much for the tip.

I don't have a sweet tooth except that once in a blue moon I like to eat a Ferrero Rocher or a Baileys truffle:).

But I'm not a fan of cakes, chocolates, cookies, ice creams, other sweets.

However I do love Crisps, Soft drinks, Samosa, etc etc.......

My typical sentence when I am having broccoli is: "Why didn't God make broccoli taste like chips!"

But yeah! am working hard not to have any of the fried & high carb food.

I was successful to some extent but last night I was craving for some chips, so had just 3 chips with my salad..

hope it does not slowdown the weight loss..

Again, loved your tip on water. Will drink loads of it.. Thx so much..

AHaha You are funny!!!(about broccoli)! Three chips is nothing! Good job! As for me, it's easier for me not to eat junk at all. If I eat, for example, one cookie, five will follow!:)
