So here goes nothing....

Hi everyone, I'm an 18 year old girl weighing 144 kg (317.5 pounds) and I'm 177 cm tall. My weight has always been a struggle for me, emotionally and mentally I'm typically strong but my weight and reactions to it are my weak points. I remain stuck in a cycle of one day motivation and the next of binge eating, I am stubborn and don't like anybody commenting on my efforts ( especially immediate family) because I want it to be clear that Im losing weight for my self and not because they or their comments made me to. I am also an all or nothing type of person where if it doesn't go the way I want it to go I will self sabotage my efforts. Putting myself out there will hopefully make me commit to this and not live in constant anxiety about my weight but get over it once and for all and not just keep up the healthy gig for 3 days at most! I think joining this forum will help me in the sense that I can see that other people are going through it with me and to remind me that its ok to have bad days. Would love to make friends with a couple of you and let this be the start of a new journey to a healthier me.

Thanks for reading and Im sorry if its mismashed but I didn't quite know what to say may post more details and my plan of attack later.
If anyone has any tips to stay on track and keep me motivated please let me know! ( I think winter break has also been why this round of trying to keep up the healthy life has been hard due to lack of routine?) ( Yes, I'm rambly and talk allover the place lol sometimes in weird tangents but I'm good with this post :p)

Welcome to the forum! :)

I suggest you start slowly and take it one day at a time. Do what you can but don't let it become a stress to you.

If you don't know where to start, I would suggest counting calories at first. You can either look on the packages and write them down (according to how much you ate), use a website such as My fitness pal, Fitday or CalorieKing (this one doesn't require registration), or use an App like Lose It!

Over time you can work in either adding 'better' foods, or making substitutions.

That's very general advice but I hope it helps. You can look in different sections of the forum and read the stickies, too.

Best of luck! :)

First of all, forget the statistics for a moment. Nevermind your height, weight and even age. Just remember, everybody is different and everybody has a different path they end up taking in order to reach their ultimate weight loss goal. However, just because we all take different roads doesn't mean we don't share similar struggles to get to the end of our journey.

You will see a lot of different people on this forum who all have different tidbits of advice to offer. Young, old, people who have 200 lbs to lose, people who have 20 lbs to lose, newbies, veterans, men, women, people who are on many different diets, workout programs, etc.

LISTEN TO EVERYBODY

You might not agree with what everybody says, but that's ok - you don't have to. But, at least listen. There are people on this forum who have been through the struggles, the successes and failures of losing weight, all of which have something valuable to offer. With that being said...

You've already taken the most important step - coming to this forum for support. It's a sign that you are admitting to yourself that you need some help and a little bit of support. Well, you came to the right place. You're looking for friends? You got 'em. You need support? It's all yours.

If you haven't started a journal already, I suggest you do so. That way you can keep track of your own progress and all of the friends you make on this forum will be able to support you as well. I think that's the easiest and most effective way that we all get help here on the forum. I know that's how I get mine. Without the support of my friends on WLF (and my super awesome girlfriend of course), I would be an unhealthy mess.

Welcome to the forum, AM. I hope to see you stick around.
